UCI Downhill MTB Competition 2013

A special week for Ekstremsportveko
The fifteenth edition of Ekstremsportveko ended on July 1st. With two fatal accidents fresh in our minds, we were all affected by this tragedy. At the same time, the fifteenth edition must be said to be a great one, with stunning sunshine, ecstatic concerts and heaps of great competitions.
The Inevitable Final
The two bands and artist that were welcomed on stage on the last night of Ekstremsportveko 2012, had one thing in common. They made the crowd jump!

After several years off the Veko program, skateboarding is finally back. The many spectators that showed up to see today’s competition got to see some awesome tricks as boards ran both high and low.

Anna Helene Ovrid has waited over four years for a wedding. Enough is enough, she thought. Yesterday she got a crazy idea - some hours later she proposed to her boyfriend in Today´s video at Ekstremsportveko.
Wu Legends – Double up!
After pleasing the crowd with a true New York hip hop concert earlier in the evening, legendary Wu Tang members doubled up and reentered, throwing a second party in the lounge later on.

The Base show in Gudvangen tomorrow Friday is unfortunately cancelled.
Lords of the boards
150 athletes racing down a steep and winding road chasing the adrenalin, adding tall mountains, a huge waterfall, sun and clear blue sky, it was set for the longboarding competition at Skjervet.

Skydiver died in an accident today
Ekstremsportveko and the skydiving community at Voss are deeply affected by the fatal accident where a skydiver died in Simadalen this afternoon.

Small bikes - High jumps
Many extremsport enthusiasts met up for today´s MTB/BMX Slopestyle final at Bavallstunet. Wonderful weather sat the mood for the day. Yesterday´s clouds was replaced with high spectacular tricks from the athletes.
One Call Challenge
Once again it was time for the One Call Challenge at Ekstremsportveko. People located at the Prestegardsmoen area this afternoon could see eager contestants competing for attractive prizes in a beautiful and warm weather.
Wu Legends replaces Black Star
Ekstremsportveko are truly sorry to announce that Black Star will not come to Ekstremsportveko to perform as planned this Friday. A Norwegian concert promoter has misled both parties.
Capoeira with KolibriCARF
By the end of the first of the three day long Capoeira Workshop, participants and instructor are satisfied. Acrobatics, rhythm and music are all elements in this Afro-Brazilian art form and the participants got to experience them all.
White water raft
Today´s European Cup in rafting was a great success. A total of nine teams participated, including four girl teams, competing in both Slalom and Sprint. With a high water level and a loud audience, the competitors were satisfied with the day.
From top to bottom – Horgi Ned
Skiing, downhill MTB and paddling, for the fourth time the popular triathlon Horgi Ned was held at Ekstremsportveko. And for the fourth time, Joar Wæhle takes home the title.
The sports kick-off
MTB Downhill got to do the honours, and was the first official competition of Ekstremsportveko 2012. Adding prestige to the game, it was also the third run in this year’s Norwegian Cup.

Kayaker missing at Voss
A kayaker is missing after a trip in the Raundalen river in Voss Saturday afternoon. The kayaker was paddling in a group of four. Ekstremsportveko is in contact with the police and is obviously affected by this accident, although it did not happen during any organised activity at Ekstremsportveko.

We meet in a spectacular landscape where dedicated people meet spectacular challenges. This will form the frame for the work shop. The work shop is both for beginners and more experienced photographers. Guidance will be tailored to each individuals level.

The big finish
The sporting events at Ekstremsportveko 2011 were concluded with a spectacular air show at Prestegardslandet. Later on, the festival program saw its worthy finish with the last concerts of the week.
Bikes off the ground
BMX/MTB and bikinis met at last under the blazing sun in Bavallstunet.
Head to head
A big crowd had showed up for the Head2Head Kayak Race in Strandaelva. With music pumping from the speakers, the BBQ fired up and eager paddlers ready to race, it was all set for an amusing day in the river.
No speed limit
Finally the long-desired day arrived! Sun, wingsuits, spectacular surroundings, sun glasses, blue skies and not to mention, happy and sunburned faces. This turned out to be the perfect day for BASE jumpers and for all of the spectators.
Super sharp
– WOW, there´s so many people here! Marie, Maria, Marie and Embla in the up and coming Norwegian girl band Razika are clearly thrilled to play at Ekstremsportveko.
Perfect for paddling
– Very good! Actually, close to perfect, says Sven Erik Klette, Head of Kayaking, about the conditions for today’s white water kayaking competitions.
Final air show
The sport events at Ekstremsportveko 2011 will be concluded with a spectacular air show at Prestegardslandet Saturday 2nd of July at 19.00.

A bike with no seat and a rider with no boundaries. That’s all you need to have fun at a quarry.
One call, one challenge
As we speak, the contestants of this year’s great challenge are down by the water paddling surf boards head over heals in a relay along Vangsvatnet.

High water levels in the river created exciting conditions for the competitors, resulting in good fun for the spectators at European Cup in Strandaelva.

This year’s Horgi Ned became a wet and muddy race. Still, Joar Wæhle from Voss won third year in a row and stands undefeated.

The Viking of Vikafjellet is cancelled
The Big Air competition Viking of Vikafjellet is unfortunately cancelled due to lack of snow. Some of the invited riders will instead have a Big Air Session at Folgefonna. Also, the skiing part of the multisport competition Horgi ned is cancelled.

The scheduled BMX competition today were earlier in the week re-sceduled to wednesday earlier this week. Instead of cancelling saturdays competition Ekstremsportveko invited to a bike-show at Bavallen.

The Nordic Championship in Acro paragliding has been ongoing since Wednesday. Today Ove Tillung from Voss could call himself Nordic Champion.
New record for longboard
Asphalt boarding has never been more popular. A total of eighty athletes wanted to compete in the longboard competition this year.

Some people enjoy clinging on to tiny rocks more than others. The participants of today’s bouldering competition are definitely of those who do so.

Extreme River Rodeo
After a one-hour drive on the bumpy roads to Mjølfjell, the people who showed up were eager to get “their moneys worth” in action. It is safe to say: Nobody left disappointed!

Kayaking Thursday is moved to Mjølfjell
The Brandseth Downhill and Team Race competitions on Thursday have been moved to Mjølfjell due to the low water level in the Brandseth river.
Victorious local rafting teams
The men’s team from Voss Rafting Center and the women’s team from Voss Rafting Club were the winners of today’s European Cup in Sprint, Slalom and Head2Head.

World Base Race at Ekstremsportveko!
Envision two athletes standing at the edge of a mountain cliff. They´re both dressed in state-of-the-art wing suit. At the signal, they jump and race head-on to the finish line, deploying their parachutes and gliding to a safe landing. This is World Base Race (WBR)!

Transport during Ekstremsportveko
Due to limited parking at many of the sport arenas, and for environmental reasons, we encourage athletes and spectators to carpool (which means filling your car). AVIS is contributing with a free minibus to many of the sport arenas.

NC in hill running
Saturday 3rd of July there will be a Norwegian Championship in hill running. Ekstremsportveko is not in charge of this competition, but our athletes and festival participants can enter the competition for half registration fee.

We are proud to present Dumdum Boys as one of our headliners at Ekstremsportveko. Last time they visited Voss was in 2003, and we predict the same electric atmosphere in the festival tent when we reunite with this legendary band in July.

We are proud to host a Norwegian premier for the kayaking movie Dream Result at Ekstremsportveko. Dream Result is an expression of the essence of white water kayaking and the story of a group of friends who have undertaken a journey to explore the limits of possibility.
