Job Description: Head of Multisport

Position title: Head of Multisport
Reports to: Land & Water Sports Manager
Department: Sports Department
Location: Voss, Norway
Duration: Project-based position (before, during and after Ekstremsportveko)

About the sport

After being off the program for some years, multisport is making a comeback at Ekstremsportveko. It will not necessarily be the same as before – we want to shape it into something fresh, relevant, and exciting. Multisport is a single competition that combines several disciplines such as running, biking, paddling, or climbing. It challenges endurance, strength, and tactics, and offers participants and spectators a unique experience of variety and intensity.

About the role

The Head of Multisport will play a key role in bringing back and shaping this competition. The role requires strong coordination skills, creativity, and the ability to oversee multiple elements. You don’t need to be an expert in all the disciplines, but you need to be structured and motivated to develop a safe and engaging event.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination of multisport events:

  • Plan and deliver all multisport competitions.

  • Develop detailed schedules, routes, and logistics in line with existing rules and guidelines.

Collaboration with athletes and volunteers:

  • Work closely with athletes to ensure they have the necessary information and resources.

  • Organize and follow up volunteers, including course marshals and support staff.

Safety and quality assurance:

  • Ensure that all events follow relevant safety standards, particularly where multiple sports are combined.

  • Monitor execution and address challenges quickly and effectively.

Work with the safety team:

  • Coordinate with the central safety team to secure safe execution across all disciplines.

  • Take part in risk assessments and implement measures to manage potential challenges.

Experience for participants and audience:

  • Ensure an engaging and memorable experience for both participants and spectators.

  • Strengthen the festival’s profile through high-quality event delivery.

What we expect

  • Broad sports knowledge: Practical experience or solid knowledge of at least one relevant sport (running, biking, paddling, climbing) and the ability to familiarize yourself with others.

  • Coordination and leadership: Experience organizing events or leading teams.

  • Safety focus: Understanding of safety standards related to sports events and competitions.

  • Communication and teamwork: Ability to work well with athletes, volunteers, and partners.

  • Structure and flexibility: Strong planning skills, with the ability to adapt to rapid changes.

Working hours and duration

The role requires flexibility, with high activity levels before, during, and after the festival. On-site presence in Voss is necessary to ensure safe and effective event delivery.

We offer

  • The opportunity to lead one of the most varied and exciting disciplines at Ekstremsportveko.

  • A dynamic work environment with high pace and close collaboration with skilled colleagues.

  • Valuable experience in sports event management and international festival organization.
