KING & QUEEN OF THE MOUNTAIN - RULEBOOK

Official MTB Overall Championship

Ekstremsportveko

1. PURPOSE

King & Queen of the Mountain is the official overall championship of the MTB program at Ekstremsportveko.

The title is awarded to the most complete, consistent, and dedicated MTB rider across the official competition schedule during the festival week.

This championship applies exclusively to MTB competitions and does not include other sports at the festival.

2. ELIGIBILITY

To be included in the overall standings, a rider must:

- Hold a valid Festival Pass
- Compete in at least one official MTB competition.
- All eligible riders are automatically included in the overall standings. No separate sign-up is required.
- Riders competing in Nordic Downhill (NDS) without a valid Festival Pass will appear in the event results but will receive zero overall championship points. Points are not redistributed. Points can be recovered if the rider upgrades to a full festival pass before 22.06.2026 23:59

3. EVENT STRUCTURE & TIERS

MTB competitions are divided into three tiers:

Diamond Tier

Maximum 150 points
Top 100 riders score points

Gold Tier

Maximum 100 points

Top 30 riders score points

Silver Tier

Events:

Only official final competition results count toward the overall standings.

4. SCORING PRINCIPLES

The scoring system is progressive and designed to reward both excellence and consistency.

The difference between podium positions is significant.

The points curve gradually flattens further down the rankings.

Every position matters.

Consistent performance across multiple events can outweigh a single dominant victory.

5. CHAMPIONSHIP BONUSES

FULL WEEK BONUS – 50 Points

Awarded to riders who start and finish all scheduled MTB competitions during the festival week.

To qualify:

The rider must officially start each event. (DNS will remove the bonus).

The rider must be classified in the final results. (DFN & DSQ will remove the bonus).

VERSATILITY BONUS – 30 Points

Awarded to riders who score points in:

At least one Diamond Tier event

At least one Gold Tier event

At least one Silver Tier Event

This bonus reinforces the championship’s all-discipline philosophy.

6. TOTAL SCORE CALCULATION

A rider’s total championship score is calculated as:

- Sum of all earned event points

- Full Week Bonus (if applicable)

- Versatility Bonus (if applicable)

- The rider with the highest total score at the conclusion of all MTB competitions is crowned:

- King of the Mountain (male category)

- Queen of the Mountain (female category)

7. TIE-BREAKER

If two or more riders are tied on total points:

The higher finishing position in Urban DH determines the winner.

If still tied, the higher single-event finish during the week determines the winner.

If still tied, the second-best single-event finish is compared, and so on.

8. DNF, DNS & DSQ

DNS (Did Not Start): 0 points

DNF (Did Not Finish): 0 points

DSQ (Disqualified): 0 points

Disqualification from one event does not remove eligibility for the overall championship unless otherwise decided by competition management.

9. OFFICIAL STANDINGS

Overall standings will be updated during the festival week.

Standings become official after verification by MTB competition management.

Ekstremsportveko reserves the right to correct administrative or calculation errors.

10. PRIZES & RECOGNITION

The King and Queen of the Mountain titles are awarded to:

- Highest scoring male rider
- Highest scoring female rider

The winners receive:

- Official Championship Trophy
- Prize Purse (defined annually)
- Recognition at the official closing ceremony

11. PHILOSOPHY OF THE TITLE

King & Queen of the Mountain is not a one-day title.

It is awarded to the rider who:

- Stays the whole week
- Competes across disciplines
- Performs consistently
- Embraces the full MTB program

Stay. Race. Rule.
