Description of the competition concept
Speed climbing is a discipline within sport climbing where climbers compete to ascend a 10-meter wall as quickly as possible. The routes are nearly identical, allowing climbers to train specifically on them and focus on improving their times. The competitions are held as duels between two climbers who climb simultaneously on parallel routes, and the winner is the one who reaches the top first. Speed climbing is known for its explosive power and fast, precise movements.
Qualification
Speed Climbing is a simple concept! It's about being the fastest person up the wall. There will be two mirrored routes, with one athlete against another. Both athletes start at their respective marked starting points. When the starting signal is heard, the clock will start, and the goal is to be the first to reach the top and activate the signal.
Each athlete gets two attempts on each side in the qualification round, with the best time from each side counting. But additionally, there will be an extra element that requires being solution-oriented and planning well to save a lot of time. (More about this will be provided closer to the event).
*The top six athletes in each class will advance to a final.
Final
After qualifying, the best athletes will advance to the finals.
Concept: 4 runs, 2 each side and bonus elements who can save the athlete some time…
