Speed Climbing
Competition Concept
Speed Climbing is an intense competition format where two climbers race side by side on identical routes. The routes are set with positive holds and designed to maximize speed and flow, allowing athletes to move up the wall at full momentum.
This is about pure pace, explosive power and precision.
How It Works
- Both climbers start with their hands on a defined starting hold and their feet on the ground. When the whistle sounds, it is full speed to the top.
- Each athlete gets at least two attempts on each side of the wall. The best time from both sides counts toward the overall result.
- The goal is simple: reach the top and hit the bell.
- After the qualification round, the six fastest climbers in each class advance to the final.
Final Format
- The six best climbers in each class compete to determine who becomes the fastest climber of the day.
- Each athlete gets two attempts on each of the identical routes to ensure equal conditions.
- The best time from each side is combined. The climber with the fastest total time wins.
- In each duel, the first climber to reach the top and hit the bell wins the heat, but it is the combined time from both routes that ultimately determines the winner.
